However, some of the features announced will not make it to Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, but will be launched later on.
One such feature is the lock screen theming application which will not be included in the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, according to Joe Belfiore.
Those who were expecting the APIs for the live theme pack for the lock screen will have to wait a bit longer until they will be released by Microsoft.

Microsoft has advised few things you need to do before you can update your device.
- To get Windows Phone developer preview updates, you need to be a registered developer or be running a “developer unlocked” phone. Check for detailed instructions on how to do it after the break.
- Make sure you have enough storage space on your phone for the update. To check how much you have available, in the App list, go to Settings > Phone storage. For more info about how to move things off your phone to make more room, see Make room on my phone to update it.
- Make sure your phone is well-charged, so you don’t lose power during the update.

- How to register yourself as a developer?There are two ways to do it.
- First, you can register as a Windows Phone Developer by paying $19 USD to Microsoft, with this you will also get access to publishing apps in the Windows Phone Store.
- Second is a more simple option that is focused on enthusiasts. Just register as a developer with App Studio for free, and with this you can create apps to run on your own Windows Phones.
Follow either of the above methods to register as a developer. - If you are already a developer, you can also “Developer unlock” your phone to be eligible for this update.
Note : The time of release of developer preview is around 10AM of 14th April or 5PM
